Zollara Vision Services is an independent service provider delivering Valeda® Light Delivery System treatments within optician practices across the UK. Our operational model is designed to remove capital investment barriers, operational complexity, and patient-retention concerns whilst preserving the clinical autonomy and patient relationships that are fundamental to your practice.
This collaborative approach enables registered optometrists and opticians to offer photobiomodulation therapy for dry age-related macular degeneration without the requirement to purchase, maintain, or operate the device independently. Clinical responsibility for diagnosis, treatment suitability assessment, informed consent, and all ongoing patient care remains entirely with the practice.
The treating eye care professional undertakes a comprehensive clinical assessment to establish the diagnosis of dry age-related macular degeneration and determine patient suitability for photobiomodulation therapy using the Valeda® Light Delivery System.
This stage is entirely under the clinical governance of the practice and includes:
Diagnosis of dry AMD through established clinical criteria
Assessment of treatment suitability based on disease stage, visual function, and clinical presentation
Discussion of treatment rationale, expected outcomes, and procedural requirements
Obtaining valid informed consent in accordance with professional standards
Performance of pre-treatment retinal imaging (including optical coherence tomography where clinically indicated)
Documentation of baseline clinical findings and imaging results within patient records
The practice maintains full responsibility for these clinical decisions and must ensure appropriate record-keeping and adherence to General Optical Council standards throughout.
Clinical responsibility
All clinical decisions remain the responsibility of the treating eye care professional.
Step 2
Treatment Delivery by Zollara Vision Services
Following clinical assessment and consent, Zollara Vision Services coordinates the practical delivery of photobiomodulation treatment sessions on-site within your practice premises. Our service model provides access to the Valeda® Light Delivery System without requiring capital purchase or ongoing device maintenance obligations.

04

Zollara Vision Services does not diagnose patients, determine treatment suitability, provide medical advice, or make clinical decisions. The service is purely operational, providing access to equipment and trained personnel for treatment delivery within the practice's clinical pathway.
Step 3
Follow-Up and Ongoing Care
Upon completion of the treatment programme, clinical responsibility for assessment of outcomes, ongoing monitoring, and continued patient management remains entirely with the practice. This preserves continuity of care and maintains the established patient-practitioner relationship.
Post-treatment responsibilities
Performance of post-treatment retinal imaging using the same modalities employed at baseline
Clinical assessment of treatment response and documentation of findings
Follow-up consultations to monitor visual function and disease progression
Determination of any requirement for additional intervention or onward referral
Communication with patients regarding outcomes and ongoing management
The patient relationship, including all clinical correspondence, records management, and future care planning, remains under the governance of the practice. Zollara Vision Services has no ongoing clinical involvement following completion of treatment sessions.
Patient relationship: Your patients remain your patients. All clinical communication, follow-up appointments, and long-term management continue as part of your standard practice protocols.
